A colossal pair of Japanese cast bronze vases, Meiji period 1860-1912, patinated bronze with bronze highlights, the top lip with a Greek key frieze, the neck and body with cast branches, turtles, and birds, the lower part with a large dragon wrapping around the base. Excellent bronze castings and chasing with rich patina. Provenance: Knuthenborg Slot, Lolland, Denmark. Purchased by the Count of Knuthenborg whilst on educational tours in 1866
