Poul Hundevad, “Guldhøj” Folding Stool, Oak, Natural Leather, 1960s, Denmark
"Guldhøj Stool", Model PH 43
Folding stool designed by Poul Hundevad, the "Guldhøj Stool" is crafted from oak with beautifully patinated cognac-colored leather. The piece remains in its original, untouched condition, showcasing a natural patina developed over time.
Designed in 1958 and produced by Poul Hundevad in Vamdrup during the 1960s.
The "Guldhøj Stool" is a classic piece of Danish design, inspired by the Guldhøj archaeological find. Discovered in a burial mound in Jutland, the original bronze-age foldable stool was a remarkable example of early Scandinavian craftsmanship. In 1958, Poul Hundevad created a modern interpretation of this ancient design, crafting the PH 43 model in oak with a cognac leather seat. The stool is both a tribute to historical craftsmanship and an iconic example of Danish mid-century design.
