18th Century Swedish Gustavian Secretary in Blue Painted Pine

Gustavian secretary crafted in pine, finished in a charming blue tone with an elegant patina.
The piece is composed of two sections with refined detailing throughout.
The upper cabinet features a pair of glazed doors beneath a cornice with dentil molding, flanked by free-standing columns. The doors retain their original glass panes set within finely molded frames.
Inside is a light grey-painted interior with two shelves cut to accommodate silverware – a practical feature that also reflected the taste for display at the time. Below are three small drawers.
The lower section is fitted with a slant-front writing flap, opening to reveal a beautifully arranged interior of small drawers and cupboards in soft grey paint. Beneath the flap are three further drawers: the upper one smaller with fluting, and two larger drawers below with profiled fronts.
The lower portion is decorated with rhomboid carvings and stands on tapered legs terminating in “shoes.”
With its original brass mounts, locks, and key, this is a fine and rare example of Gustavian craftsmanship, combining functionality with understated elegance.
