Unique Ebbe Sadolin Stoneware Floor Vase for Bing & Grøndahl, Denmark, 1983
Ebbe Sadolin, 1900-1983
Rare and highly decorative unique floor vase designed by Ebbe Sadolin for Bing & Grøndahl and produced in 1983.
Crafted in glazed stoneware, the vase features a beautifully nuanced surface in warm rust-red and smoky blue-grey tones.
The rounded form is decorated in relief with a continuous narrative inspired by the Greenlandic landscape and wildlife. Stylized birds, fish, seals, kayaks and mountain silhouettes emerge from the surface, creating a dynamic composition that wraps around the vessel.
The flowing lines and simplified imagery reflect Sadolin's distinctive artistic language, where decoration and form merge into a cohesive sculptural expression. Rather than presenting isolated motifs, the design unfolds as an interconnected landscape that invites the viewer to explore the vase from every angle.
Signed "Sadolin" and marked with the Bing & Grøndahl factory stamp and model number C87.
An exceptional example of late 20th-century Danish art pottery, combining craftsmanship, storytelling and sculptural presence in a striking one-of-a-kind work.
