Swedish Gustavian Bench in Original Paint, circa 1780–1800
Swedish Gustavian bench, circa 1780–1800.
Crafted in birch with its original grey-white painted finish, beautifully preserved with a naturally developed patina.
The gently curved back is composed of four profiled panels separated by slender vertical splats carved with stylised foliate ornamentation.
Gracefully curved armrests terminate in elegant scroll ends and feature discreet upholstered arm pads.
The shaped front rail is profiled and supported by three tapered, fluted front legs with matching rear legs.
Finely carved details to the arm supports and leg blocks further emphasize the bench's refined proportions and elegant Gustavian character.
Presented in good condition with age-related wear consistent with its age and a beautifully developed patina.
