English Oak Campaign Chest with Writing Compartment, circa 1880

English campaign chest crafted from solid oak with original brass fittings, recessed handles and locks.
The chest is constructed in two separate sections and comprises six drawers. The upper section has three smaller drawers and one large drawer, while the lower section contains two large drawers.
The central upper drawer conceals an integrated writing compartment. The front folds down and pulls out to form a writing surface, revealing an interior fitted with pigeonholes and a small drawer. Depth with the writing surface extended: 85 cm / 33.5 in.
Campaign furniture was originally designed as portable furniture for British officers on military campaigns and postings throughout the British Empire. Pieces were constructed to be easily dismantled and transported, while the characteristic inset brass fittings protected the corners and edges during travel.

- When goods and a suitable freight solution is agreed, the amount of the goods purchased is proceeded deducted from your account (unless the payment has already been made via bank transfer.)
