Beautiful Gustavian secrétaire desk / bureau crafted in oak and finished in a decorative light blue hue with an attractive patina.
The piece is constructed in two sections, with an upper cabinet featuring a profiled cornice and finely carved dentil moulding. The two panelled doors are elegantly framed with moulded edges and open to a well-organised interior with shelves and compartments, including notched sections originally intended for silverware.
The lower section features a slanted writing flap that opens to reveal a light grey interior. Inside is a well-arranged layout with numerous small drawers and a central cupboard with decorative geometric wood carving.
Beneath the writing flap is a drawer adorned with a refined, carved à la grec frieze, followed by three spacious drawers below.
The piece is finished with fluted legs and a decorative carved central apron.
