About the Artist
Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, known as Corneille (1922–2010), was a central figure in European post-war modernism and among the founders of the CoBrA movement.
His work is characterised by vivid colours, spontaneous lines and a poetic visual language inspired by nature, birds, animals and female figures. Corneille holds a significant place within the European avant-garde and is regarded today as one of the most distinctive modernists of the post-war era.
