Pair of Large Gilt Bronze Louis XVI Style Candelabras Featuring Zephyr and Psyche, Napoleon III Period
An impressive pair of large gilt bronze candelabras in the Louis XVI style, from the Napoleon III period, circa 1860-1870. Each candelabra features a central stem formed by the figures of Zephyr and Psyche, elegantly supporting the eight-branched candleholders. The candelabras are richly adorned with garlands of fruit, foliage, and flowers.
Both Zephyr and Psyche are exquisitely crafted, highlighting the candelabras' fine craftsmanship and intricate details. The candleholders and bobeches are similarly adorned with pearl chains, foliage, laurel wreaths, and laurel leaves. The base is decorated with playful cherubs in relief. These candelabras are fully decorated on both sides, making them ideal as freestanding pieces, and they exemplify the high quality and craftsmanship characteristic of the period
