About the Artist:
Wilhelm Marstrand (1810–1873) was one of the most celebrated painters of the Danish Golden Age. A student and later professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Marstrand was known for his vivid portraits, genre scenes, and depictions of daily life, both in Denmark and during his extended travels in Italy. His works are admired for their warmth, character, and technical excellence, and are held in major museum collections, including the National Gallery of Denmark.
