Early 19th Century Danish Gustavian Chest of Drawers, 1803
Danish Gustavian chest of drawers from 1803, crafted in black-painted wood with original brass fittings and locks.
Profiled top above a carved dentil frieze.
The front has five drawers: a narrow top drawer with reeded front, above four larger drawers, all with moulded details and original brass handles and locks.
Fluted quarter columns frame the sides. The piece stands on a plinth with fluting, carved with the owner’s initials and the date 1803, and is raised on tapered, fluted legs with profiled shoes.
