Knud Andersen Lidded Jar for Royal Copenhagen, 1933, Burnt Orange Crackle Glaze and Gilt Bronze
Decorative lidded jar by Knud Andersen (1892–1966) for Royal Copenhagen, 1933.
The jar is executed in porcelain with a beautiful burnt orange crackle glaze and an elegantly fluted body in a gently pumpkin-shaped silhouette, inspired by classical antiquity.
The lid and base are crafted in gilded and burnished bronze.
The finely shaped finial and the detailed feet reflect a high level of craftsmanship.
Both lid and base are engraved with Royal Copenhagen’s crown and wave mark as well as the artist’s monogram, KA.
The rim of the lid bears a presentation inscription from the Danish Technological Institute, while the base is dated 23 November 1933.
The underside is marked with Royal Copenhagen’s characteristic three-wave mark and model number 412 / 3047.
Condition: Excellent condition.
