French Louis XVI Style Glass Hanging Lantern, Circa 1880
French glass hanging lamp from the late 19th century, executed in the Louis XVI style.
The mouth-blown glass shade is decorated with fine vertical fluting. It is supported by a bronze ring with refined detailing, including a beaded rim along the edge and geometric, square mounts from which the brass chains are suspended.
The lamp is finished at the bottom with a decorative bronze finial shaped as an acorn — a classic motif of the period.
Inside, the lamp is fitted with a central brass holder for candles.
France, circa 1880.
