Pair of Art Deco Bergère Armchairs in Flamed Birch with Petrol Velvet Upholstery, Denmark 1910-1920
Pair of elegant Art Deco bergère-style armchairs with rounded backs, crafted from flamed birch wood. The chairs feature tapered front legs, adorned at the top with round brass knobs, and gently curved rear legs. The seats are spring-supported and have been recently reupholstered in petroleum-colored velvet. These chairs showcase beautiful craftsmanship and represent the high-quality workmanship of the period. In perfect, newly restored condition.
The chairs are attributed to Bent Helweg-Møller (1883-1956) and were likely made as part of the interior furnishing for Heerings Gård, Christianshavn, Copenhagen, between 1923-1927. The work was executed by master cabinetmaker Jørgen Christensen, with the small brass ball on the front legs serving as an almost signature detail of his work, perfectly matching the style.
Denmark, 1910-1920.
