An exceptionally rare unique table hand-decorated by Bjørn Wiinblad and signed and dated 2001.
This table was specially commissioned for Bjørn Wiinblad's cousin, making it a highly unusual and personal work that differs significantly from the artist's standard production. Its distinctive octagonal form and architectural proportions suggest it was conceived for a conservatory or garden room, where the richly decorated tabletop can be appreciated from every angle.
The tabletop is composed of hand-decorated ceramic tiles painted in vibrant polychrome colours. At the centre, a lively composition of musicians, harlequins and stylised figures unfolds in Wiinblad's unmistakable fairy-tale universe, surrounded by an elegant ornamental border in rich shades of green, yellow, purple and black. Every tile has been individually painted, creating a cohesive decorative artwork that blurs the line between furniture and ceramic art.
The ceramic surface is set within a custom-made solid cherry wood frame resting on four simple cylindrical legs. The understated wooden construction allows the hand-painted decoration to remain the undeniable focal point while providing a refined Scandinavian contrast to the exuberant imagery.
