Hans J. Wegner Round Dining Table PP76 “China Table” in Cherrywood, 2001
Hans J. Wegner, 1914–2007
Round dining table, model PP76 – also known as the “China Table” – crafted in solid, matte-lacquered cherry wood.
Originally designed in 1947 as a natural companion to Wegner’s iconic China Chairs, the table is proportionally and stylistically aligned with their elegant, sculptural form.
This example was produced by PP Møbler in 2001 and remains in excellent original condition.
It comes with a single extension leaf, increasing the diameter from 120 cm to 180 cm.
As the extension has been used only occasionally, it appears slightly darker than the main tabletop, which has naturally lightened over time due to sun exposure.
Model PP76 exemplifies Wegner’s mastery of combining geometric simplicity with functional versatility – a timeless piece that embodies both craftsmanship and design integrity.
