18th Century Gustavian Console Table with Drawers, Sweden 1780-1790
A rare and powerful Gustavian console / dining table from Sweden, circa 1780–1790.
Made in pine with its apron scraped back to reveal the original blue paint, contrasted by the untouched natural pine tabletop. The apron is decorated with refined fluted panels, broken by diamond-shaped details, and includes two drawers – one at the front and another at the side.
The table stands on sculpted, tapered legs with fluted carving, ending in a profiled shoe.
Originally used as a dining table, the deep apron makes it particularly well suited today as a console table, a behind-sofa piece, or an elegant display table
Sweden, circa 1780–1790.
