Spanish Baroque Style Library Table, Philippines, circa 1860
A Spanish Baroque–style library table made in hardwood, featuring a softly weathered grey-painted base and a dark, black-painted top accented with subtle white line decoration. The table includes a single drawer set into the apron, while the slender, finely turned legs are united by a stretcher, lending both visual balance and structural strength.
Produced in the Philippines around 1860, during the period of Spanish colonial rule, this table reflects the region’s long-standing tradition of crafting furniture in Spanish taste. Such pieces were often made for monasteries and for families with close ties to the Spanish administration. A decorative and characterful example of Spanish colonial furniture craftsmanship.
