Eugène de Sala, Minimalist Profile Drawing in Black and Blue Pencil, c. 1920–30
Eugène de Sala (1899–1987)
Minimalist profile sketch executed in black and light blue pencil on paper. Signed “de Sala”.
The motif depicts a stylized female head in profile, constructed with a few confident lines. The simple contour combined with the subtle light blue accent gives the composition a clear and refined graphic expression.
The work can be seen as a study of the expressive potential of line and the reduction of form — an approach closely related to the early modernist movements that shaped European art in the first half of the 20th century.
Framed with glass in a simple wooden frame.
