Danish Louis XVI Commode in Mahogany with Fluted Columns and Bronze Capitals, 1780-1790
An elegant Louis XVI commode crafted in rich Cuban mahogany.
The top features a moulded edge above a gently curved front with four drawers – the uppermost slightly narrower and adorned with a fluted front.
Each drawer is fitted with brass-lined keyholes, adding both refinement and durability.
The sides are decorated with fluted quarter-columns, finished at both top and bottom with finely cast bronze capitals.
The piece rests on elegant, tapered legs that give it a light and graceful appearance.
Made in Copenhagen circa 1780–1790, this commode represents exceptional cabinetmaker quality.
This type of Louis XVI commode is often referred to as a Copenhagen Commode, as it was crafted by masters of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild
