Pair of Swedish Gustavian Breakfront Chests of Drawers, Circa 1840–1860

A decorative pair of Swedish chests of drawers crafted in pine and executed in the Gustavian style. The softly weathered paintwork displays a delicate blend of celadon green and faded turquoise tones, while warm wood tones subtly emerge through the finish, adding richness, depth, and character to the overall appearance.
The shaped tops are adorned with a finely carved dentil frieze that follows the elegant outline of each piece. The chamfered corners are decorated with carved diamond motifs above fluted details, emphasizing the architectural character so typical of the Gustavian tradition.
The fronts are composed as a classic Gustavian breakfront design, with a subtly emphasized central section flanked by narrower side fields.
The three drawers feature panelled fronts that reinforce the balanced architectural composition, while the lower drawer is finished with a graceful scalloped apron that softens the otherwise restrained geometry of the design.
Brass escutcheons and drop handles provide a warm contrast to the painted surface, highlighting the depth and character of the weathered finish.
The chests stand on tapered, fluted legs, lending a sense of elegance and lightness to their proportions.

- If you do not find there is a suitable shipping solution, you have the option to cancel your purchase or choose another solution.
- When goods and a suitable freight solution is agreed, the amount of the goods purchased is proceeded deducted from your account (unless the payment has already been made via bank transfer.)
- The cost of freight is invoiced by the transport company.
- The goods are shipped / picked up as agreed.
