Late 18th Century Swedish Gustavian Secretary with Fall-Front, Black and Coral, circa 1780–1800
A fine Gustavian secretary crafted in black-painted pine with a striking coral-red interior.
The top features a moulded edge, complemented by gently canted sides with elegant carved detailing.
The fall-front writing surface opens to reveal a refined interior fitted with numerous small drawers and compartments. The inner drawers are painted in a vibrant coral red, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark exterior and adding warmth and depth to the piece.
Beneath the writing surface are three generously sized drawers with moulded fronts and brass hardware.
The secretary stands on tapered legs and retains its original locks and keys.
It presents with a beautiful age-related patina and beautiful colors.
A classic example of Swedish Gustavian craftsmanship, where elegance, simplicity, and harmonious proportions come together.
