A finely detailed plaster cast reproduction of the original marble horse head from the East Pediment of the Parthenon.
The East Pediment depicts the miraculous birth of the goddess Athena, emerging from the head of Zeus. This horse head is one of the horses that drew the chariot of Selene, the moon goddess, or Nyx, the goddess of the night.
The original marble sculpture, now housed in the British Museum, was acquired by Thomas Bruce, 7th Earl of Elgin.
This plaster cast was created in the 1930s is in untouched condition and features a beautiful natural patina, capturing the timeless elegance of the ancient Greek masterpiece.
