Beautiful and decorative French glass hanging lamp executed in the Empire style, circa 1850
The lamp features an elegant frosted glass bowl engraved with delicate star motifs and a classic meander – à la grecque border around the rim.
The lamp is suspended by three gilt bronze chains and richly decorated with crystal swags and faceted prisms that create a light and elegant appearance. The glass bowl is supported by a gilt bronze ring decorated with small floral rosettes from which the suspension originates.
At the top, the suspension is finished with a clear glass canopy also adorned with prism swags, bringing the chains together and completing the refined design of the lamp.
A chain decorated with glass beads for suspending the light bulb is included, complementing the lamp’s crystal ornamentation.
The lower part of the bowl is finished with a finely cast gilt bronze finial in the form of an acorn — a classical decorative element typical of the Empire period.
